What are ClimArts Labs?

They’re the perfect introduction to Climate Storytelling. Over the course of two weekends you will gain the tools and network you need to start translating creative practice into climate action.

  • The first weekend provides an introduction to effective Climate Storytelling

  • The second weekend goes deeper, by exploring a sub-topic of this year’s theme: Climate Change’s impact on Human Health

  • Open to artists & creatives of all disciplines

  • Limited to 30 participants

Who is this program for?

  • Artists of all disciplines such as dance, music, theatre, visual arts, puppetry, stand-up comedy, and more.

  • Artists at any stage of their career.

  • Artists seeking to explore collaborations with the scientific community.

  • Those with a passion and desire to inspire positive climate action through storytelling.

What will you get from this program?

Community

  • Become part of the solution, join a global community of creative changemakers.

  • Platform to present your climate-idea and to collaborate with climate experts to create a ClimArts Short. You will also receive invites to ClimArts events, as part of the community.

Climate Storytelling

  • Understand the science, psychology, media narratives and communication strategies underpinning climate storytelling.

  • Dive into one specific issue relating to climate change (e.g. air pollution, ocean warming) and hear from experts in media about the dominant narratives and how they are perceived.

Fee & Commitment

  • The full fee for ClimArts Labs is £75 ($95).

    Limited number of bursaries are available

  • Participants may apply for need-based partial waivers through the application process.

    ClimArts is committed to ensuring that financial standing is not a barrier for accepted applicants.

  • Between Thursday and Sunday, you can expect to spend about 8 hours of online learning. We recommend allotting additional hours of self study to go over resources. If you want to make the most of the experience, you can book office hours with the ClimArts team members to make a personalized plan and/or ask for an optional assignment at no extra charge.

    All program sessions are delivered online.

  • This program is designed for visual and performance artists, but is open to creatives from all disciplines.

  • All program sessions are delivered online and are mandatory to attend in order to get the certificate. However, they will be recorded and made available.

  • We run a few each year. Please check our website and Slack community channels for information on upcoming workshops. You are welcome to get on our waitlist to get notified.
