Ashoka Fellow, Women’s rights activist

Dinny, an Ashoka Fellow, a women’s rights activist and a former banker, founded TORAJAMELO to prevent the emigration of indigenous women from their communities and to preserve the indigenous craft of back-strap loom weaving. She has revived several motifs, imparted training to 1000s of weavers, coordinated hand-woven textile exhibitions and co-founded a traditional textile lovers organization. She is on the board of a State owned enterprise that supports artisanal MSMEs of Indonesia and is also an ESG Advisor for a public company in Indonesia. In

March 2020, Dinny was assigned by the Indonesian Minister of State Owned Enterprise (Menteri BUMN) to be the Independent Commissioner of the iconic PT Sarinah (Persero). Among her many recognitions, is the “Indonesian Women of Change” Award for the Trade and Investment category from the U.S.
